Lisa Robinson-Rogers - Compassionate Therapy for Mental Health

Smiling woman in a cozy gray sweater sits at a wooden table.

You don’t need to have the right words to start therapy. Most people don’t.

Often, what I hear first is: “I don’t even know where to begin,” or “I feel like I should be able to handle this.”

We can start there.

I work with adults who feel overwhelmed by their emotions—whether that shows up as anxiety, sadness, self-doubt, relationship struggles, or patterns that don’t seem to make sense, even to you. This is where mental health support becomes essential.

A lot of the people I work with carry some version of the belief: “There’s something wrong with me.”

I don’t see it that way.

In our work together, we’ll start to look at your experiences through a different lens—not “What’s wrong with me?” but: “What part of me learned this… and what was it trying to protect?” I draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS) and EMDR, approaches that focus on understanding rather than fixing, and compassion rather than shame. Because most of the patterns you’re struggling with didn’t come out of nowhere; they developed for a reason.

That doesn’t mean they aren’t painful now. It just means we can approach them with curiosity instead of criticism.

Something I’ve learned—both as a therapist and a human—is that it’s often much easier to see the worth in other people than it is to recognize it in ourselves. If that resonates with you, you’re not alone in it.

You don’t need to show up to therapy with a clear story, or even a clear goal. You can show up unsure, quiet, overwhelmed, or saying “I don’t know” the entire session. We’ll work with whatever is there, especially if you’re seeking therapy for anxiety or trauma therapy.

I welcome clients of all genders, sexual orientations, cultures, races, and abilities, and I approach my work with openness and respect.

I offer a complimentary consultation so you can get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit. If you prefer, please feel free to email me at lisa@resilientpursuit.ca with any questions.

Areas of Focus

Anxiety and sadness can lead to overwhelming emotions, which may include diagnoses such as Borderline Personality Disorder and Bipolar I/II. For those experiencing trauma, including PTSD, mental health support is crucial. Coping with grief, relationship difficulties, life stressors and transitions, and parenting stressors can also benefit from therapy for anxiety. Additionally, women's issues, including navigating peri- and menopausal symptoms, and coping with ADHD are important areas where individuals can find effective trauma therapy.
